Issue Date: 2001
Abstract: To implement different control decision function successfully in a modern distribution automation system, large number of system data are required from the field. Because of cost consideration, adequate numbers of meters can not be placed in the system to monitor the different system variables. Hence, state estimation technique is going to play a very crucial role in the coming days for successful implementation of "distribution automation" system. In this dissertation work, a distribution system state estimation algorithm is developed based on weighted least square approach. The state estimation problem has been formulated in rectangular co-ordinates. The algorithm is generalized enough to take into account all type of actual and pseudo-measurements. However, in this work, only measurement of power (both active and reactive) flows and magnitude of current flows over the feeders have been considered. The developed algorithm has been tested with two different system, namely, i) 18-bus system and ii) 3 1-bus system.
