Abstract: Since four fifth of the earth's surface is occupied by oceans and seas, and the development of coastal area is in high phase, the effect of sea water on different construction materials used on foundation of different structures on this very part of the earth is of prime importance now-a-days. Concrete is a unique construction material as it can suit various degrees of performance and can cater to both high and low technological requirements. Conventional concrete some times needs to be modified for special circumstances and unusual applications. In the majority of cases, if the reinforcing steel is embedded in good quality, dense concrete with adequate cover thickness, it remains unaffected for a long period. The corrosion of steel in concrete is governed by many parameters such as steel surface and composition, concrete properties and the environment in which concrete is placed.....
