Abstract: In this dissertation it is proposed to carry out the hydraulic analysis of various practicable design options adopting state-of-the-art technology for arriving at the most suitable one. In this context, the problem encountered in Rammam Stage II Hydro Electric Project in the hills of Darjeeling has been adopted as a case study. The aforesaid case study is proposed to be carried out as under: 1. Hydraulic design and analysis for a suitable excess spill arrangement from the existing forebay of the hydel project. 2. Design and analysis of a suitable water conveyance arrangement down the steep hill side to the Rammam river, after duly accounting for occurrence of high turbulent flow conditions as well as for dissipating the maximum possible hydraulic energy in the transit phase also. 3. Design and analysis of a suitable energy dissipator for killing the energy of the order of 500 m, within the site constraints to cater for high to zero tail water conditions.
