National Water Policy documents (1987) has recommended that planning for water 'resources should be done considering basin or sub-basin as a hydrologic unit. All individual development projects and proposals should be formulated by the states and considered within the frame work of such a overall plan for a basin or sub-basin so that the best possible combinatin of option can be made. For the proper planning of any basin/sub-basin the assesment of water potential is a pre-requisite. Thus in this dissertation water assessment of Netravati river has been carried out..- Availability has been assesed on the basis of 16 yrs. discharge data of Bantwal discharge site and extended for 30 years by rainfall- runoff regression analysis. Various domestic,. industrial, irrigation and other demands also been considred before assesing water potential in Netravati river.
