Abstract: | Various mathematical models had been developed in order to study the bed configuration in the alluvial channel bends. These models were based on static equilibrium approach in which critical shear stress was assumed to prevail all over the bed. In these models, the satisfaction of sediment and water discharge continuity equations are not s. tisfied. The present study is based on dynamic eouilli-birium approach in which both the water discharge and sediment discharge continuity equations are satisfied?. The aim of satisfaction of continuity equations is achieved by minimizing the sum of absolute values of the residues in these equations by varying the coeffi-cient of series satisfying the boundary conditions. The model can be used to determine the bed configuration at the exit section of the bend for known inner and outer depths. The model was checked against the available published data and it was found that computed bed profiles for water depth variation as logarithmic-power series and logarithmic-exponential series show good agreement with the observed profiles |
