On many occasion the hydro electric project fail to generate the desired hydel power due to various reasons. One of the major reasons in the above context can be attributed to excessive consumption of hydraulic energy by the water conveyance system. Furthermore, there are instances when tail water level becomes higher than anticipated, value due to discrepancy in estimating the river water level. There is always an imperative need to undertake micro level investigation of the causes of excessive head losses in a hydro power system for restoration of its peak generation. Analysis of the causes of high tail water along with evaluation of the merits of alternative means of lowerhig the high tail water require in depth study. In the above context, a comprehensive analysis is carried out on the factors responsible for high tail water levels as well as to formulate cost effective remedial measure on the basis of evaluation of various alternatives are carried out. For carrying out the above analysis, an established computer river flow simulation package namely HEC-6, was employed.....en_US
