Abstract: Sugarcane is being cultivated in different parts of the country under diversified soil, climate and management conditions. Consequently, its productivity varies from place to place. During last one decade the sugarcane production caused an alarming situation as for most of the years sugar production was in short of consumption which called for a planned sugarcane cultivation. Classification of the country in the sugarcane productivity potential zones is the first necessity for planned development. Earlier attempts classify zones where sugarcane is. already in cultivation in the country. Thus need was felt to classify the country afresh in sugarcane productivity potential zones which will be helpful to planners...
