Title: DESIGN OF LINING OF 'HYDRAULIC TUNNELS - A CRITICAL REVIEW
Authors: Gandi, Prasanna Kumar Mysore
Keywords: WATER RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT;HYDRAULIC TUNNELS;CONCRETE;RCC LINING
Issue Date: 1995
Abstract: In water resources development projects, pressure tunnels are a general feature. They are commonly lined with plain cement concrete or RCC lining or with steel liner according to the needs of the location of tunnel and the geology of the rock mass. The lining of tunnel is done to achieve better hydraulic conditions and to minimize rock falls which are detrimental to the smooth operation of turbines in case of hydro power projects and to improve the hydraulic efficiency pf irrigation tunnels-. The type of lining to be provided depends mainly on the strength of the rock surrounding the tunnel opening and the rock cover available at that location.....
