Traditional irrigation methods consumes two times more water. than the advance irrigation methods. Therefore there is a need to stop traditional irrigation methods and to adopt advance irrigation techniques. The present irrigated area in Maharashatra would be increased consideraly by adoption of the advance irrigation techniques with slight modification in the present water allocation policy and the operation strategy. Study of developing interface of drip irrigation in canal command was the objective, but it is realised that only drip irrigation will not serve the purpose to grow different crops in the canal command. Therefore the scope of study was extended to develop interface of sprinkler, drip as well as advance surface irrigation and surge techniques. An attempt has been made to evolve a more promising, technoeconomically viable irrigation techniques to suit the present water distribution network. Some recommendations are enumerated in order to improve the water use efficiency and the present water allocation policy...en_US
