dc.description.abstractThe enormous hydropower potential available all over India suggests that,in the near future,small,medium and major hydro power projects planned with adequate provisions for ecological conservation and recreational features be proposed in order to meet economically the power demand which is increasing day by day with the fast pace of development of the country. As of now, hundreds of hydel power projects are under construction and as many proposals are being considered for final clearance, investigation or design. Given the policies being adopted by various power development authorities,there is every possibility that many of these proposed projects will be taken up for execution within the next few years...en_US
