Abstract: With the rapid evolution of computer technology, important advances has been made in obtaining computer. aided solutions for many problems. In accordance with this recent development an attempt has been made to develop a computer aided design package for the design of abutments. This study describes the design details of an-abutment. In this design, various combination of forces such as Earthquake forces, Equivalent surcharge load created by point loads and uniform distributed load on the back fill and super structure loads have been considered. The designing part involves various types of stability checks and the-structural designs. The design consists of the following four major steps as given below. 1. Selection of type of abutment. 2.
