Abstract: | The stress distribution and deformation behaviour are of a great concern to the designers of concrete gravity dams.This study was aimed at investigating stress deformation behaviour of, such dams using a rational approach capable of considering foundation properties also. It was achieved by carrying out 2-dimensional finite element analyses of idealised dam sections of different heights under different foundations conditions.
