Issue Date: 1994
Abstract: The operation policies of surface water reservoir projects in a river basin play a vital role in the optimal sizing and scheduling of reservoirs at planning stage and better harnessing the benefits from them at actual operation stage. The. proper formulation of policies at both the stages is a must, for which optimization techniques are made use of. However, the prevalent techniques have their limitations in handling real-life large systems. The aim of this study is to develop a simple realistic techniques for simulating the optimal operation of a multi-reservoir system, which can be used as a tool for planning and operation. A simulation model via network-flow programming is developed for analysing the optimal operation of a multi-purpose multi-reservoir system....
