Abstract: | Irrigation data management consists of preparation, handling, analysing, updating and management of voluminous data of varying nature. The :conventional procedure of management of such data have deficiencies in many ways. And also the- present practice of irrigation water delivery (i.e. orsabandi) which is based on the time allocation as per the individual's land holding have deficiencies as the actual crop water requirement is not considered. Geographic information system (GIS) is a computer based system designed to store, process and analyze spatial data and their corresponding attribute information. Due to their capabilities and wide range of application, the GIS can be efficiently , used in the irrigation data management and irrigation water management. |
