Abstract: This dissertation deals with suitability of the long-shunt series capacitor compensated self-excited induction generation (SEIG) for resistive and inductive loads for both constant and variable speed operations. A mathematical model based on the equivalent circuit of the induction machine has been developed and subsequently used for'': studies related to various aspects. An optimal capacitor combination obtaining strategy has been discussed which has been applied to machines of different ratings to assess the'general suitability. The main, conclusions which emerge from this work have been highlighted.. regarding the suitability of the long shunt SEIG for standalone application...
