Authors: Negi, Vikram Singh

Issue Date: 1993
Abstract: Gantry cranes are one of the vital mechanical components of any water resources project. For overhauling and maintenance of gates , it is used to operate the stop log units in the spillway whereas in the power house side, draft tube gates itself are handled by these cranes. Thus the fail safe operation of these cranes is inevitable for successful running of the water resources projects. The manual design of the gantry crane is a time consuming exercise involving lots of tedious computations and trials. These all problems can be mitigated considerably if these all intricate calculations are carried out with the help of the computer and safe as well as economical design is arrived at in a very short time......
