Abstract: Graphic representation. by thick sectional lines in plan drawn by the Architects, denote the walls. It is a three dimensional element responsible for creation of overall enclosure. Spaces are created, defined and conceived by 'the'wills. Buildings concern with valls primarily; then with the other building components. It aids the character of the spaces and bears the stamp of the ingenuity of the Architect, if handled in a superior way. Its performance, structure and cost are the important considerations in a wall design. However, because of non availability of suitable ready rckonance graphs and tables, these considerations are quite often ignored by the builders. The author has studied the literature available on these aspects, and has given a critical review. Further, the improved methods have been recommended.. The scope of the work has been restricted to " Wall Construction Techniques In Walk-up Apartments-. The limitation of the scope is due to the following reasons: 1. Height of the building and height of the storey 2. Dead and live loads acting on it 3. Occurrence of cross walls.
