Abstract: An economical and safe alternative to conventional concrete and embankment dams, roller-compacted concrete (RCC) has revolutionized dam design and construc-tion. Because of its technical and economic advantages, RCC is now being considered as an alternative in any study of new dams. Presenting a cutting edge of RCC technology "feasibility of constructing small RCC dams in India" covers a comprehensive and systematic studies of Upper Dam of Ghatghar Pumped Storage Scheme and a Saddle Dam to be constructed by RCC. A modified design of Upper Dam and a Saddle Dam of Ghatghar Pumped Storage Scheme has been carried out with construction planning of equipment and bar chart for carrying out the construc-tion. The economic advantage of Modified RCC Dam over Proposed Masonry Dam and proposed RCC cum masonry spillway has been clearly brought out. The construction of stepped RCC spillway with the non-overflow sectons from left to right abutments is clearly brought out alongwith saving in stilling basin length. Review of existing literature, feasibility studies with respect to the small RCC dams as regards to its construction _ and some design details have been presented.
