dc.description.abstractMathematical models for simulation of ground watr flow are becoming increasingly popular over the past years, as compared to other types of models. A mathematical model using ' Integrated Finite Differe-nce Method' is developed for the ground water studies of Lakhaoti area. The area is fed by a number of distributories and surrounded by U.G.C., L.G.C. and Anupshahr Branch. The study area having 442637.25 ha is divided in 77. polygons having an average area of 5748.5 ha. The model is calibrated against the historic levels over a period of four years from 1984-85 to 1987-88. The average error in calibration for the nodes where observation wells are located is 0.027m and that of all nodes together worked out as 0.031 m. The specific yield and transmissibility values as obtained from the cali-brated model range from 0.05 to 0.25 and 2.50 to 5.50 ha/ month respectively. The model can be used for prediction of ground water responses to any combinations of recharges/ abstractions over next seven/eight years with reasonably good accuracy.....en_US
