Abstract: Water is one of the prime natural resources, one of the vital requisites for the living being viz, mankind, the vegetation world and the aquatic beings, in short, the flora and fauna. Since time immemorial, man is seriously in search of water which he has shown an immense interest in developing permanent resources of the same. To broaden the underlying principles behind any water resour-ces project, it is quite essential to assess the amount of available water as accurately as possible for efficient management. This in turn has drawn the attention of carrying out an elaberative investigation. But detailed investigation for the purpose, through ground based proce-dures are tedious, cumbersome and time consuming. Hence remote sensing technique which is relatively a recent devolopment, is being extensive-ly used and utilised in present days, world wide.
