Title: MODELLING OF OPTIMAL OPERATION OF A MULTIPURPOSE RESERVOIR SYSTEM
Authors: Prasad, S. R.
Keywords: WATER RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT;MULTIPURPOSE RESERVOIR SYSTEM;GROUND WATER STORAGE;RESERVOIRS
Issue Date: 1992
Abstract: This study aimed at developing a mathematical model and a computer program for the optimisation of operation policy for a single multipurpose reservoir serving several agriculture zones. It considers the environmental issues of maintaining dynamic balance of ground water storage and the minimum flows in different reaches of the river, The model has been formulated for maximising power generation meeting the period wise irrigation requirements and that of flood control. It can also consider additional availabilities of flow from the adjoining basins. Based upon the literature survey carried out, the model was solved using forward dynamic programming algorithm. Following this algorithm, a computer program was developed for the optimisation, The program developed can be applied to any single multipurpose reservoir system serving any number of agriculture zones...
