ANALYSIS AND SCHEDULE OF RATES are essential documents in the planning of all water resources projects based on which detailed pr- of ect estimate . are made . and submitted to the sanctioning authorities. The analysis or schedule of rates is a comprehensive document prepared by the department and is followed by the construction engineer and the contractor. Updating the schedule of rates manually is a laborious and time consuming work as: 'it. involves analysis of a few of items in the schedules.. It is necessary to develop a computer program to eliminate the drudgeries involved in the manual preparation of these documents and to enable their periodic updating in minimum p•,~ .iL1 = 4.: rig_ . Updating this document at least once a year manually has been an extremely difficult task as it involves careful analysis and thorough checking of several items in the schedule. Under this situation, the use of computers is found to be an ideal solution 'in preparation and. quick updating of this document thus reducing the time besides eliminating the chances of human errors and . the drudgery involved in its manual preparation.
