dc.description.abstractFloods and flood damages have become a, recurring pheno-menon in many parts of India and the magnitude of flood losses are mounting up year after year. It is estimated that about 34 million hectares of land are affected by ravages of floods. Forecasting and estimation of losses due to floods has recently been given a new impetus by use of Remote Sensing Techniques. In India, the sate of Assam is annually ravaged by the fury of floods of the mighty river Brahmaputra. Keeping this in view, a study has been made to analyse the flood plain and bank line migration of river Brahmaputra between Dibrugarh to Dhubri so that adequate steps may be taken to cut down the losses of life and property...en_US
