Abstract: In the recent times watershed modelling has gained considerable importance in the realm of watershed management espacially from the need to evolve effective measures for water resources development, flood control and soil conservation.Quite a good number of watershed models have come up as a result of research efforts by many investigators. Prominent among these models is the Tank model developed by M.Sugawara which conceptualises the water movement in a watershed with the help of four number of tanks arranged in series vertically for humid regions. In this dissertation a 4X1 Tank model has been applied to the Pagladia basin of Assam, which is a major tributary of the mighty Brahmaputra river. The Tank model has been calibrated adopting climatological and other basin data for three years period from 1976. The varification of the calibrated model has been done for the requisite data for another subsequent period oftwo years. The effeciency of the model for the present case has also been evaluated adopting one of the criteria recommended by the WMO......
