Abstract: Agricultural projects, in general, are designed to create productive resources and the antid pated bene-fits are extended for a reasonable period of time. Irri-gation proj ects provide water for several )pars which are intended to increase productivity of the land. Viewed in this context, an attempt has been made to study the eccnomic feasibility of 10 dam sites, investigation of which has been funded by the World Bank in Yemen Arab Re-public. Agriculture is the backbone of the economy of this fast developing country uh ich has enormous n 'th4 ral resources. Presently, the population of the country is nearly 13 millions. Hov,,ever, the home products of cereals food and vegetables are not sufficient to meet requirement of the growing population of the country. Therefore, it is premature to imagine that the prices of the food pro-ducts can be _'stabfl.ised at a point of time, even in the years to cry me due to huge deficits. The alternative is that the imports of f oodgrai ns have increased year after year in order to feed the population....
