Quite often barrages are constructed across large and medium size rivers in India and other countries for diversion of flow for irrigation and power generation. The design of a barrage can be split up into two segments namely hydraulic design and structural design. The hydraulic design of a barrage involves careful selection of interi.cate para-meters like waterway, discharge intensity afflux which inci- dentally also affect each others. The conflicting require-ments involved in the selection of these parameters along with the repetative computations entailed in the trial, and error process of design make it an ideal case for develop-ment of a computer aided design of barrage.....en_US
