Abstract: The flooding of river basins causes inntt enable difficulties and too prevention and reduction of consequent losses have always been the prime concern of engineers. There are many techniques to prevent and minimise such losses and flood forecasting is one of thee. This technique is now widely used but is still in the developmental stage. The development of this technique is based on sound mathematical principles. Due to wide variety of site conditions and variations in hydrology of catchment areas and hydraulic conditions of river basins the empirical models developed for flood forecasting become unique ones. In most of the cases graphical techniques have been employed....
