dc.description.abstract | The smallest unit of India is a'village' where about 80 percent of its population is spread. It is like a vast source of energy which when activated, channelised and mobilised can change the very face of our country. The study of cultural patterns is a vast study in itself, but in the present dissertation some of the desired cultural patterns are discussed. The economic patterns e.g. agricultural economics, land-use, economics of manufacturing, marketing, mineral resources, recreat-ional economics, transportation etc. which are dealing with the economics of the community. Analysis of population data ) related to the economy of a community has been discussed. The settlement patterns which are the patterns of internal circulation, the dwelling patterns and social patterns have also been studied. All these patterns when suitably studied give a definite solution for the village development and planning. In the present work the author has applied the young science of Photo-interpretation to study the cultural patterns of some of the Indian villages on experimental basis. An aerial photograph is an inventory of all such information and the valuable, quantitative as well as the qualitative informations in this field can be extracted from the aerial photographs depending upon the suitability of scale, quality of photographs and the ability of photo-interpreter to understand the language of photographs | en_US |
