Title: ANALYSIS OF HELICOIDAL STAIRCASES
Authors: Patodi, Raj Kumar
Keywords: CIVIL ENGINEERING;SPACE BEAM;FLEXIBILITY COEFICIENT;HELICOIDAL STAIRCASES
Issue Date: 1969
Abstract: This thesis provides a successful example of the application of the matrix progression method for the analysis of helicoidal staircases treated as space beam. Numerical integration technique has been applied to integrate the governing differential equations using matrix notations in derivation and in computations. The tedium of the derivations of the higher order differential equations, evaluation of characteristic roots and arbitrary constants or of complicated integrals of flexibility coeff-icients avoids. The application of the method has been made to circular helicoidal staircase, corrections to the expressions by the previous investigator (Cohen) have been pointed out and corrected
