| Abstract: | Unchased population growth (human and livestock) in hilly region of the Indian subcontinent has caused conversion of forest land into + cultivation land,grazing land etc. to meet food,fodder and fuel demands. Carrying capacity of various types of land has decreased and soil erosion considerably increased. The decreasing land:man ratio with declining land productivity are the root causes of land degradation of the hilly region. Problems of hill agriculture system and its relation with forestry are discussed.... |
