Issue Date: 1988
Abstract: The study aims to evaluate the optimal spacing between wells, for this purpose, the mutual interference between wells for different geometries are studied in chapter II . In chapter III, the spacing of wells for steady and that for non-steady state conditions cr~J discussed, the spacing between wells was also discussed for different grouping and various configuration, the circular configuration in which wells are placed at the vertices of equilateral triangles for different number of wells was studied. In chapter IV, the economical spacing of various grouping of wells interconnected by pipelines is studied and expressions for determination of the optimal spacing were developed. The annualized cost is calculated in relation to the discharging capacity of the pipes. Economical spacing of a rectangular well field is discussed following John Briscoe method. In addition to that, analysis has been conducted to determine the optimal spacing of augmentation . wells placed a long a lined feeder channel discharging into a main canal. The optimum spacing depends on the aquifer parameters, pumping rate, - the contenious , pumping duration, cost of lifting a unit volume of water aunit height, number of wells and cost of channel. For this purpose cost analysis of a lined channel has been carried out to find it's cost in terms of discharge.
