SOCIO ECONOMIC IMPACT OF IRRIGATION A CASE STUDY OF MEHGAON BLOCK, DISTT. BHIND (M.P.)

Abstract

The present study titled ' Socio Economic Impact of Irrigation' is intended to examine the impact of irrigation &~ the family size and composition, cropping pattern, capital assets, input-output and resource use efficiency, farm returns etc. in the selected area of Mehgaon block on the sR distributory of Bhind Main canal (Chambal Command) district. Bhind (M.P.), which highlights the contribution and economic performance of irrigation. Out of 9 villages of Mehgaon block, 100 farmers were randomly selected for the study. While selecting the sample due consideration was given to the farmers of head, middle and tail reaches. The data were collected through a especially structured schedule. The selected farmers were interviewed for obtaining the required information. The secondary data was, however, collected from district, tehsil and block offices. An intensive survey method was adopted for i ntervieweing the farmers.
