The present day trend in construction of Water Resources Projects involves construction of long tunnels, where the tunnelling operations in adverse geological conditions are a challenge to the engineering community, especially in Himalayan region because the behaviour of the rock mass are unpredictable due to frequent variation of its properties. Due to the complex geology of the Himalayan rocks un-certainties in the tunnelling operations were experienced in a few tunnel projects resulting in overruns of cost and time. Under such situations analysis of the tunnelling problems in detail alongwith their solutions serves as an important guide for the execution of future projects.....en_US
