In the field of hydroelectric power generation, aims of hydro power plant automation system are highly divers!-fled and equally diverse are the types of plants and their operating conditions. Till recent times, the various tasks in automation were being performed by either conventional relays or static logic devices. However, with the advent of programmable electronic devices, characterised by low cost and high performance, the hydro plant automation systems are entering altogether a new era in which these programmable devices are tending to replace the conventional device s with se ye several attendant advantages. Automation of hydro power plant essentially involves automatic starting - stopping of the unit and auxiliaries and optimal operation of the plant.....en_US
