Abstract: | HVDC transmission system is gaining popularity all around the World, as a solution to the problem of long distance bulk power transmission without stability limit, with increased reliability and asynchronous interconnection of two power pools. Nearly thirty years of commercial operating experience have proven its operating advantages and feasibility for multiterminal HVDC system, in which even greater economic and technical advantages can be realised. Multiterminal transmission link have so far not been put in the World and attempts are now being made to convert the existing two terminal links to, 3 to 5 termi-nal links and a number of multiterminal schemes are in the design stage. The dissertation examines the possibility of multiterminal HVDC system with special reference to control, fault and circuit breaking aspects in the system. |
