My Dissertation titled "Studies of Energy conservation on chemical recovery Evaporators" Is a small effort done for the energy conservation in Evaporator section of chemical recovery plant. Chemical recovery section is an intensive energy consuming section of paper mill. In this section we convert black liquor, which is coming from the washing section into white liquor, which is further used for cooking purpose. The aim of this report was to investigate the possibilities of energy conservation & optimizing Evaporators operation in Indian Pulp and Paper mills. In this report, I have studied the various types of Evaporators and black liquor characteristics & the effect of Black liquor quality, in increasing the dry solids content. First I have studied the chemical recovery section of the paper mill and observed that Evaporator section had higher scope of energy conservation. I also worked on material balance of Evaporator section. In this. report, I analyzed all the incoming and outgoing streams of Recovery Evaporator section. After obtaining the results of my work, I gave suggestion to improve the system, which can improve the energy consumption profile in the form of increase in water evaporation per metric ton of steam consumption. In conclusion, the current study has revealed a significant, profitable potential for the improvement of Recovery Evaporators steam economy efficiency & reduced the steam consumption for the recovery process significantly.en_US
