Abstract: A 3 - dimensional set up for inclined loading of footings has been designed and fabricated, Three types of (square, recta-ngular and strip) model footings on medium sand have been tested under inclined loads in two cases, le When load is acting incline/. and footing base is horizont_ 2. When load is acting normal and footing base is inclined. Observations of load displacement, tilt characteristics and ultimate load carrying capacity of footings are taken, Fail-ure patterns on the surface of sand have also been studied. Two dimensional tests are also performed in which the failure surface pattern and its depth are studied. The results of 60 tests are correlated for square, recta-ngular and strip footings, It has been noted that the bearing capacity of foundations under central inclined load reduces than that of central vertical loads. The reduced values of Ny factor the for the foundations under inclined loads are given inform of graphs. e ,(esukts Observed results have been compared withAMoyerhof, Jumkis, Zaherscue, Brinch Hansen and Ghumrnan
