A large portion of the water diverted into the canal is lost duo to seepage decreasing the irrigation po-tential and also endangering water logging in course of time due to general built up of water table in that area. The loss due to seenago can be completel7 or partiaLly eliminated by complete or partial lining of canal cross-section. To check the water logging, the seeping water can be intercepted by pumping wells or intecepting galleries by not allowing it 1A,,,enter the (Tround water reservoir. The purpose of the present study is to find out the effect of the intercepting galleries over canal seenage with respect to different locations of the galleries and their disc71ars for two shallow water tabte conditions. The flow field was assumed to be made of an isotrasic acuifer founded over anen_US
