Issue Date: 1967
Abstract: A matrix method for the analysis of R.C. framed stagings of water tower, used to support overhead water-tanks, is presented. The problem has been solVed for horizontal loads as a rigid-jointed space frame.. Three water towers with 10,12 and 14-columns each with 4-panelled stagings have been analysed. Several cases for each water tower have been solved to study the effect of each of the stiffnesses of water tank and foun-dation,slab on the behaviour of water-tower. The compu-tational work was carried out on IBM-1620 Digital Computer. In the last chapter, useful conclusions have been, . drawn with a view to, possibly, modify the already exist-ing conventional method. In the end, alternative methods, easily. solvable by hand calculationstare suggested which are supposed to yield results very near to .and on safer side of those given by exact matrix method.
