Although optimization problems can be handled by non computer methods, argument is presented that difficult cases are usually solved by computer methods. A study is presented, which is directed at finding a solution to the problem of com-pression networks having over lapping activities. The method involves the use of cost duration, network diagrams and linear programming. The computer is used to solve the linear programming model. The results give information pertaining to earliest start and finish times of activities, what activities to expedite in order to complete the project within the specified time limit and how many weeks, how much money should be allocated and what additional costs are incurred in expediting the work.en_US
