The archipelago of Indonesia lies in tropical belt with each island exhibiting a closed hydrologic water balance. The regional hydrologic characteristics in the archipelago have been analysed and compared with other regions in the tropical belt. This study covers compilation and application of hydro-logic practices (deterministic and probabilistic) for analysis of rainfall, runoff data in Indonesia. 'Three projects one each from Sumatra, Java and Bali islands of Indonesia are selected for case studies. The projects differ in size of catchments, availability of data and purpose . Besides these three projects, for rainfall, runoff analysis, a small catchment project in West Java is also included for study of small catchment hydrology. Available rainfall data is analysed to discuss the methodologies for a)estimation of catchment rainfall and high intensity point rainfall from regional analysis b)estimation of dependable rainfall using theoretical probability distributions and testing goodness of fit (K-S test) . The available runoff data is analysed to discuss the methodologies for a) es t ima t io n of dependable runoffs using probability distributions and testing goodness of fit (D-Index), b)estimation of probable floods by POT Model for partial duration series. A review study of De Lathes method for finding unit hydrocgraph is made.en_US
