Abstract: The forces and pressures of water. can pose serious thre Rt to the security of dams if not properly controlled. Therefore seepaqe analysis and it control are of considerable importance. Loss of stored water, exit gradient and excessive settlement some of the undesirable effects due to seepaqe. For evaluation of these parameters, available methods can be categorised as i) graphical solution, (ii) numerical solution and .(iii) experimental solution. Experimental methods such as electrical analogy method with liquid electro-lytes are more suitable when one is dealing with stratified foundation as the theoretical solution becomes complex and possibly needs computer help. With a view to find out the optimum combination of impervious blanket length and partial depth of cutoff in strati-fied foundations, the studies were conducted using electrical analogy method with liquid electrolytes for Kapur dam (Upper Indravati Project of Orissa State) and the analysis and result of the same are presented in this dissertation.....
