Issue Date: 1966
Abstract: In the dynamic behaviour for structures it is important to know th.',) contribution of live load towards the equ iv-za-ent---mas s of the structure. The live load has been idealised to be repre-sented by a single degree of freedom system. Thus the primary system and the live lead form a two degree freedom system which has been analysed for actual ground motion data The dynamic effects of the live loads have been determined by performing free vibration tests. As primary system two single storeyed steel frames and ore steel tower ware used. The types of live loads tried were men, gunny bags, bricks, cast iron weights, trolleys with different types of wheels and storage materials like coal, wheat and aggregates. The experimental and theoretical results show that the effective live load is to be considered is less than the actual live load. IL critical study of world earthquake resistant regulations for live loads has also been reported. gel
