Issue Date: 1965
Abstract: The investigation on the "^lectro - Chemical method for the estimation of Dissolved oxygen in Water" was under taken under the guidance of Dr. K.K.Tripathi & Sri I.p.Saraswat. Due to the serious limitations of Winkler method and its virtual failure in highly coloured solutions and in the presence of ionic species such as sulfites, nitrites etc., efforts were made to develop membrane covered galvanic cell for the determination of dissolved oxygen. In our experiments, we observed that antimony / antimony oxide and lead electrode system worked better than Ag / M20 - Pb systems prepared according to Mancy. Advantages and limitations in respect of temperature effect, stabilization time, residual current in 10% sulfite solution, effect of stirring and current developed Vs. Dissolved oxygen are described for the cell developed by us. -:0
