The paper industry has been gradually switching it papermaking hum acid to inure environmental friendly neutral and alkaline processes in order to produce a more durable paper. There is a need to have an idea of the behavior of alkaline sizing on Indian papermaking furnish with the utilization of commercial tillers. Keeping this in mind, the laboratory study was devised to determine the effect of AKD on various properties of paper like Cobb60 (hydrophobicity), ash, strength and optical properties. Investigation is done using different fillers, basically precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC), ground calcium carbonate (GCC) and Micronised talc (Finex). The AKD dose was optimized during the studies and the effect of filler on hydrophobicity was studied.en_US
