For design of fle$iblo pavements, the most widoly used method, is the CBR met~rod Which is omperical in nature but uses a soil strength test. In t.►is study, attem?t has been made to correlate CBR values of a soil with the plasticity characteristics of soils. Forty eight soil samples were obtained from diff-erent parts of U.Y. and M.P. In the laboratory their CBR, OMC, Liquid limit, plastic limit were determined by conven-tional methods. CBh values for soils were determined after soaking the soil sample for four days after compacting at O.M.C. Trials were made to develop correlations of CBR with plasticity charaotoristios separately and with O.M.C. and one of the plasticity characteristics, viz, liquid limit, plastic limit and plasticity index. The best corrolation on the basis of statistical analysis of data seems to be the combined correlation of CBR with ,log (O.i C) and Liquid limit. Nomograms have also been developed for all above correlations for easy prediction of CBR.en_US
