Temperature plays very important role in the design and construction of concrete damns. Right from the beginning of the construction, temperature rise takes place because of the heat of hydration and when this warms concrete cools up, under the restrained condition, tensile stresses are built-up. Besides this heating and cooling of concrete, another continuous cycle comes into existence because of the seasonal variations. These seasonal variations affects the stability of the dam adversely, as throughout the life of the dam, the concrete undergoes extreme seasonal variations....en_US
