A typical simply supported shoit shell with free or continuous edges and with or without edge beams has been analysed by the more commonly used elastic theories for cylindrical shells. The values of stress resultants obtained according to the various theories are compared. Taking the results given by Holana's Theory as the basis of comparison, the accuracy obtainable by the other methods is evaluated.en_US
