With a view to evaluate the irrigation efficiency in the command area of Janjhokhar minors under-Salawa Command of Upper Ganga Irrigation Scheme, on-farm studies were taken up on three outlets at head) middle and tail reach of the minor and three fields on each outlets at heads middle and tail reach of the water-course. Conveyance . losses in the watercourses were -u.etermined -by inflow _outflow _method method-, whereas seepage losses were found out by ponding method. The seepage losses were of the order of 0.8 cumec/106m2 whereas conveyance losses were of the order of 8.45 cumec/106m2 which is ten times higher than seepage losses;. The average convey-ance efficiency of water courses has been found out to be of the order of 67 percent which shows excessive loss and indi-cates the need of improvement of watercourses-.en_US
