A considerable amount of water is lost in the Canal System from the point of diversion to the irrigation outlet and further in the water course by seepage, evaporation etc. The efficiency of conveyance system affects essentially the total economy of an irrigation project. So the knowledge of seepage losses from canals is required to estimate the convey-ance efficiency of the canal and to take any measures to con-, trol the seepage losses from canals, The seepage losses can be obtained either by estimation or by direct measurements. The Left Salewa Distributary of Upper Gangs Canal System Commands very fortile land of Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. For finding out the conveyance efficiency of Left Salawa Distributary .yotom, tho seepage losses from Left Salawa Distributary and its distributories and minors were determined by direct measurements and analytical methods. The direct methods include Ponding, Inflow-Outflow and Tracer Technique....en_US
